The Amiron home is warmer and bassier than the DT 1990. Their treble response is less veiled, and their bass response is slightly more balanced. Sealing this port partially will change the amount of bass. Using the pleather pads: Bass is a bit more prominent with these pads and of lesser tonal accuracy. So for me the filter is obligatory. These headphones do not have a microphone so the recording quality has not been tested. Above-average for mixed usage. They also don’t have cups that can swivel to lay flat. I bought a set of original pads and did a comparison. The closed, circumaural DT 1770 Pro has very high external noise attenuation, which, depending on the ear cushions used (supplied in suede and imitation leather), makes the outside world appear around 20 dB quieter.
