Terms & Conditions
FRAME THE FUTURE WITH ORMS IN COLLABORATION WITH CANON
Photographers of all ages, backgrounds and experience levels are invited to enter the Frame the Future photography competition!
Competition dates: 24th September 2017 – 18th November 2017
Images will be judged in accordance with the following judging criteria:
- Use of colour: the image needs to be predominently made up of the respective colour of the theme you are entering – ie: if you are entering the passion theme your image needs to be predominently red. Respective colour needs to be as close as possible to the shade of colour used in the South African national flag.
- Relevance to the theme entered
- Originality
- Artistic merit
- Composition
COLOURS - Respective colour needs to be as close as possible to the shade of colour used in the South African national flag.
- Red is for PASSION
- Green is for COMMUNITY
- Black is for ENERGY
- Blue is for CREATIVITY
PRIZES:
- GRAND PRIZE: The grand prize of a Canon EOS 7D Mark II with an 18-135mm lens for entering the best image overall – the winner will be announced at the end of the competition in the week of the 27th November 2017.

- A panel of judges will review all the images and select the winning image.
- ORMS DIRECT VOUCHERS: Four Orms Direct vouchers to the value of R1000 each will be given away throughout the 8-week campaign. All you need to do is share the campaign on social media, follow @OrmsDirect, tag Orms and use the hashtags as indicated below.
Criteria: You have to share the competition artwork (either via the social media platform “share” button or by taking a screenshot of the artwork) and sharing it on your own profile. You have to follow @OrmsDirect on either Instagram, Facebook or Twitter, tag @OrmsDirect and use the hashtags #framethefuture #iwinwithorms. The winners will be selected randomly through www.random.org.
- PHOTOBOOKS: By entering a collection of images into the Orms Frame the Future competition on www.framethefuture.co.za, you will be able to win 1 of 8 Orms Photobooks, which will feature a selection of your (and possibly other) winning images.
Criteria: Winners will be announced weekly, however the books will only be printed at the end of the competition. The judges will determine the winners based on the images that suits the criteria best as a collection (minimum of 3 or more images). The winners will be chosen every Friday at midday and announced at 6PM that evening. The book is an Orms Create & Print, A4, 28 page landscape, personalised hardcover.
HOW TO ENTER:
- Capture your hope for our nation’s future inspired by the following themes and their respective colour: PASSION, COMMUNITY, ENERGY and CREATIVITY.
- The image can be taken on your phone, your DSLR or your Point-and-Shoot, we don't mind.
- Upload your image to www.framethefuture.co.za starting from the 24 September 2017 and ending on the18 November at 6PM 2017.
- Images need to be submitted in Hi-Res (Print JPEG’s) Min Size 1mb – Max Size 2mb.
- You may enter as many themes, and as many times as you wish, but you can’t enter the same images into multiple themes.
- Weekly winners as well as the grand prize winner will be selected by a panel of judges.
- The judges’ decision is final and no negotiation will be entered into with respect to any such decision.
- By entering the Competition You hereby accept these Competition Rules and the Terms and Conditions.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS:
- Employees of Orms, Canon or their family members or anyone else connected in any way with the competition or helping to set up the competition shall not be permitted to enter the competition.
- There is no entry fee and no purchase necessary to enter the competition.
- Entrants must reside in South Africa and is open to all ages.
- By submitting your email address, you give us permission to send you Orms marketing emails. You can easily unsubscribe in the future using a link provided in every newsletter. We will not release your details to other parties.
- By submitting images to enter this competition, all entrants are deemed to have granted Orms permission to use their images on social media accounts owned by Orms and for Orms marketing material and to use it in connection with this promotion without limitation (this may include future publication in reference to this promotion or a similar promotion).
- A digital version of the South African flag will be created at the end of the competition containing images entered into the Frame the Future competition. Orms holds the right to select the images that will be included in the flag.
- Competition entries will only be accepted via www.framethefuture.co.za
- Orms reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify and remove any entry that does not comply with the following requirements, even after the entry is submitted on the Website. You warrant and represent, in respect of each entry submitted by You (“Entry”), as follows:
- You are the sole owner and author of each Entry with the right to make your entry available to the Competition. Entry does not infringe upon the copyrights, trademarks, contract rights, or any other intellectual property rights of any third person or entity, or violate any person’s rights of privacy or publicity, and your Entry does not include:
- Trademarks or copyrighted materials owned by third parties - including works of art; unless Participant can demonstrate that Participant have been granted a license to have such works of art used and published by Orms.
- Any commercial content - including logos or brand names unless Participant can demonstrate that Participant have been granted a license to have such logo or brand names used and published by Orms.
- Recognisable persons, unless Participant can demonstrate that such persons have granted all the necessary permissions for the image to be used and published by Orms.
- Any animals that were harmed or manipulated in the making of the image.
- Each Entry does not contain personally identifiable information about You or any other person(s).
- Each Entry does not contain any infringing, threatening, false, misleading, abusive, harassing, libelous, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, scandalous, inflammatory, pornographic or profane content.
- Each Entry does not contain any material that could constitute or encourage conduct which would be considered a criminal offence, give rise to civil liability, or otherwise violate any law.
- You are the sole owner and author of each Entry with the right to make your entry available to the Competition. Entry does not infringe upon the copyrights, trademarks, contract rights, or any other intellectual property rights of any third person or entity, or violate any person’s rights of privacy or publicity, and your Entry does not include:
- The Participant warrants that: the entrant is the sole creator of the photograph; the entrant is the owner of the proprietary rights in the photograph; the photograph and any element appearing in the photograph do not infringe the rights (including intellectual property rights) of any third party in the case where a person or person’s image appears in the photograph, the entrant has obtained written permission from those person(s) for Orms to use their image(s) as described in these terms and conditions; and in the case where the photograph has been taken in a country other than South Africa, the entrant has complied with the law applicable to such country, including but not limited to any intellectual property and proprietary legal requirements. It is the responsibility of the entrant to ensure that the relevant permission has been sought, model release forms have been satisfactorily completed and that copyright is not infringed.
- You agree to fully indemnify Orms in respect of all royalties, fees and any other monies owing to any person by reason of Your breaching any of the above mentioned.
- If you are under 16, you have Your parent’s or legal guardian’s consent to participate in the Competition.
- If Orms does not receive a valid signed parental or legal guardian consent form for any winner under the age of 16 within 7 clear days of the contestant being declared a winner (excluding the day on which such declaration is made by Orms) Orms will be entitled to select an alternative winner from among the contestants.
- Orms reserves the right to disqualify incomplete or illegible entries or which do otherwise not meet the above requirements.
- Closing date for entry will be 18 November 2017 at 18h00. After this date no further entries to the competition will be permitted. Any late entries will be ignored.
- No responsibility can be accepted for entries not received for whatever reason.
- The promoter reserves the right to cancel or amend the competition and these terms and conditions without notice.
- The promoter is not responsible for inaccurate prize details supplied to any entrant by any third party connected with this competition.
- No cash alternative to the prizes will be offered. The prizes are not transferable.
- Entrants will not be able to edit uploaded images after publishing them.
- The promoter reserves the right to re-categorise any uploads which may be more relevant in an alternate category.
- By participating, the entrant consents to Orms publishing any and/or all entrants’ images.
- The grand prize winner for the best image overall will be selected in the week of 27 November 2017.
- The winners will be notified by means of the contact details provided to Orms. If Orms is unable to contact a winner within three working days of first notification, the winner will forfeit the prize and Orms reserves the right select a new winner under the same conditions.
- It is the entrant’s responsibility to ensure that any information provided to us is accurate, complete and up to date.
- The promoter will notify the winner when and where the prize can be collected.
- The promoter’s decision in respect of all matters to do with the competition will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
- The winner agrees to the use of his/her name and image in any publicity material. Any personal data relating to the winner or any other entrants will be used solely in accordance with current South African data protection legislation and will not be disclosed to a third party without the entrant’s prior consent.
- Entry into the competition will be deemed as acceptance of these terms and conditions.
